The Pantry and Baby Pantry
Working in partnership with other agencies we have been active in supporting people in food poverty through:
Facilitating the setting up of the:
Hastings Fareshare Hub which supports local organisations with food supplied by Fareshare in Brighton. This project helps many local groups running food projects and community cafes with surplus food from warehouses and retailers.
Hastings Food Hub, which is a Forum for local organisations involved in supporting people in Food Poverty.
The Pantry based in Dorset Place, central Hastings, provides members with a mix of long life and fresh food for a membership donation of £3. The Pantry is open Tuesday and Friday between 10am -1pm.
The Baby Pantry was launched in November 2019 in response to hearing that families were watering down baby formula due to its cost. Working with local charity The Fellowship of St Nicholas, health visitors can obtain vouchers to buy the right baby formula and obtain nappies and other essential items to support families. Health visitors can also work with families to ensure that they can budget and are accessing the services they require.
For further information or a referral form contact via the Pantry email: [email protected]
We are grateful for additional funding support from: Chalk Cliff Trust Community Lottery Awards for All, Sussex Community Foundation, Magdalen and Lasher Charity, Isabel Blackman Foundation, Hastings Rotary Club, Asda and Sainsbury's.
